Is Pueblo Islam a mosque?
No. Pueblo Islam is an independent community resource, made possible by Ameen Systems. The masjid in Pueblo is Pueblo Islamic Society, at 30 Martha Lane. Pueblo Islam does not speak for the masjid, and the masjid’s own announcements always come first.
Where is the masjid in Pueblo, and when is Jumu’ah?
Pueblo Islamic Society is at 30 Martha Lane, Pueblo, CO 81001. Jumu’ah is held every Friday in the early afternoon; the masjid posts the current khutbah and prayer times on its prayer screen at masjidbox.com. Times can change with the season, so check before you go.
Can someone who is not Muslim visit a mosque?
Yes. Respectful visitors are welcome at most mosques, and Muslims are usually glad to answer questions. Dress modestly, take your shoes off before the prayer area, and tell someone it is your first visit. The Visiting a Mosque page walks through the whole visit.
Is the Quran really free?
Yes. Request a copy and a person emails you to confirm the mailing details before it is sent, to any address in the United States. There is nothing to sign up for, and your address is deleted within 90 days.
Who answers the questions sent through this site?
A person does, usually within a week. Questions are never sent to an AI service. For a religious ruling on a personal matter, the reply will point you to a qualified scholar or the imam, because a website is not the right place for a fatwa.
Are these prayer times the masjid’s times?
No. The times on this site are calculated start times (adhan) for Pueblo, using the Islamic Society of North America method. The masjid sets its own congregational (iqamah) times, which come a little later, and publishes them itself.
Why this exists
In a smaller Muslim community, the first step can be hard to find. People should not need perfect timing, insider knowledge, or a Muslim friend to find a dignified place to begin.
